Session 13 - May 16, 2021

Page history last edited by Bolthy 2 years, 10 months ago

When last we left off, it was June 26th and the posse was in North Bend. Gunny, who was absent last session, has been working extra shifts because of an increase in Garou events that are pulling away staff.

During this time, Gunny's family introduces her to a potential spouse: Johann Johannsen, a Lupus Get of Fenris who has a human daughter named Anna. Her mother has passed away, and he wants help. They have a pleasant picnic, and tentatively agree to a date that doesn't involve having the kid around.

It is now the 28th.

News had come by way of the Verbena in Seattle, specifically Saiorse. Saiorse has a contact who has a cousin who is a priest at St. Patrick's in North Bend. Father Dennis said that two gentlemen came to stay at the guest room in the rectory. They were brothers who said they were associated with St. Leopold. They looked fairly militant.

The group cruises by the church to get a feel for the place. Mind scans might suggest there are enough people to account for the inquisitors still there. They debate a cover story for why they would be asking about Society of St. Leopold. They decide to go to Radio Shack to get parts for Hugo to tap the phone line in the rectory. They quickly determine that the people in the church are the priest, his secretary, and a cleaner.

Gunny and Astrid go into the church, pretending to be distressed and needing a private place. They case the joint. They spot a door going downstairs that is unlocked. The room down there looks kinda casual, like a lounge. There is also a locked door. Astrid entropies the lock and see a storage area, but it doesn't take up as much space as it should, and the area behind it is hollow. They open a stiff door, and find a monastery style cell with two cots. It isn't very dusty. There's a door that seems to lead outward. There's a tunnel reinforced with stone. There's an unlocked door at the other end. There's a space behind a hot water heater and home HVAC. It seems to connect to the basement at the rectory.

The group does a stake out spot the guys come back, sneaking into the rectory. Tamara scries the location and hears them talking about shooting "the Bridges girl" with their sniper rifle. One guy is a Brit, one is Eastern European or Russian.

Astrid calls the Bridges and gets the husband (Steve). They bring him up to date, and he is going to contact his brother (the cop) and meet the group.

With a bit of magical assistance, the cops get the drop on the Inquisition and haul them off. They monitor Father Dennis's phone over night and nothing weird happens. The priest is genuinely surprised that the cops had been by, and that the men had been hiding in the secret cell.

They had shown up with documentation from the cardinal in Spokane. They were only supposed to be there one night so he didn't bother to get copies. He sketches out a symbol from the Brit's lapel pin, a cross with a curved blade at the bottom. Astrid recognizes it as Gladius Dei, a terrorist organization who killed Astrid's parents.

They convey the information to the police and stumble home. Astrid is going to get drunk because dead parent feels.
