Session 15 - July 11, 2021

Page history last edited by Bolthy 2 years, 9 months ago

It is now July 11th, 1995. The group gets called in by Jada.

The group are given key cards to the UW robotics lab. The head VA, Steph, wants a group of diverse talents. They go deep into the robotics lab. It is clear to Hugo and Tamara that the place is shielded for radiation. They are taken to what looks like a blocky toy robot.

Magically, it can't be perceived. It is resistant to physical examination and even pried open.

Gunny and Astrid go to the dumpster in Fremont where the robot was found, which is conveniently outside of Astrid's work.

Hugo figures out that it can be puzzle-boxed open, and with Tamara's help is able to pop it open. Tamara had seen a similar puzzle in Derek's office. Inside is a block of some iridescent material that is inherently anti-magic.

At the funeral home, there's a rat spirit that is curious about what they are doing. Asking the rat about the robot, Gunny learns that it walked there and then did an elbow crawl under the dumpster. It smelled like it came out of the water, specifically the canal.

Back at the lab, they run on scans on it and think it is possibly extraterrestrial.

At the canal, they tried talking to duck spirits without much result but are directed to talk to crow spirits instead. The crow is willing to talk in exchange for one of Astrid's rings. There was a fishing boat that dumped it overboard. On the side it had the letters A, H, R, T, W/M, but doesn't know the order.

Gunny gets access to boat name registries that have passed through, and there are multiple variations on "Martha" as well as one "Wrath."

Calling around to marinas, and Wrath is a privately held boat docked out of Medina. Boat is owned by Robert Leighton, who has seven boats named after the Seven Deadly Sins. He is a rich businessman.

The robot was found by Frat members who were cleaning up garbage and thought it weird enough to take to the professor.

Steph was able to find out that Leighton left in late May for Australia with his family.

They try raiding the marina, but are stopped by local employees because Tamara blows the attempt to con them. Instead they bribe a seagull to get a flag off the boat.

They flash back and it looks like Derek goes with the boat and a couple people to man it, and is responsible for the robot.

She calls Derek, and after a failed attempt to get a message past his current girlfriend, she talks to him and finds out it's a stealth spybot with some umbral material that resists magic. He makes a vague threat about needing it back or else they will need to forcefully retrieve it. Tamara reports in to Jada the information she obtained.
