Session 20 - March 20, 2022

Page history last edited by Bolthy 2 years, 1 month ago

September 1, Friday

Hugo is in school right before Labor Day weekend.

Tamara approaches Uncle Astral at a playground in the U District to ask about a hedge magic group for her 12 year old sister, Cassandra.

Astrid is working at the mortuary and gets a call from Carter White, one of the Bellingham Euthanatos. Carter wants to hire the group for something "unusual". He's been doing research into archives and found a cypher that he cracked. It seems to be written in 5 or 6 languages, one of which is Old Germanic. From what he's been able to figure out, there was a time capsule in the Aurora Bridge that he wants to retrieve. He doesn't know where, but there's a plaque on the southwest corner of the bridge.

Astrid calls the group together. Gunny is babysitting. Hugo goes to obtain a semi-working metal detector as ritual materials. The plaque is mounted directly onto the support and there is no empty space behind it.

There is a spatial distortion at the north end of the bridge near the troll. When the group gets there, it seems like there's a cavern under the troll. The Matter people can identify a semi-secret door, which the group slips into when there's a gap in crowds. Beyond there are stairs that are slightly too large for humans. There are deep pitched voices. Life scan shows them as "human."

Tamara forms a psychic link with the group while Hugo uses magic to muffle sound. A big blue face appears around the corner and calls out in a language we don't understand. Another blue face comes around with a light and Tamara offers a brownie with the Transformers universal greeting.

The light disappears and a normal human face appears who speaks English. The group explains that they are looking for a time capsule and gives the background. They go to confer.

They explain that they are sworn to protect the time capsule but the group can look at it but not take it. They look at it, confirm it's a time capsule, but they can't see inside it. The group wants to make the capsule transparent but the changelings need permission.

His name is Tobias. He's not old enough to buy cigarettes which is a buzz kill for Tamara. But they exchange contact info.

Astrid follows up with Carter. He wants to look up transliterated Chinese, French dialect (Quebecois?), Enochian, something in Cyrillic. It may be from 1935?

Sunday, Tobias calls and says the Grumps want to meet them. Carter arranges to come down for dinner. They go to the Masonic Lodge on Greenwood. They meet with "Queen" Bea who, after hearing the options, is willing to allow Tamara to scry back in time at the time capsule.

Tamara offers to link people up psychically, and Bea asks to have one of her people also included in the link. Her name is Penelope.

Grown up stuff out of the way, Tamara seeks out the hooligans in the alley, Hugo seeks out the tinkerers. Tamara sends a copy of herself over to listen to the storytelling.

After being sent with leftovers, the group goes to the cavern. The object was not originally in the time capsule in 1932 but was added in 1935. It's like a hockey puck with a button, five wedges with inscribed lines as though done by multiple artists. The person who puts it in could be an ancestor to Tobias. They chant in old Germanic and it gets a coppery look when they put it in there.

Penelope provides a hockey puck that Hugo attempts to recreate the object. Penelope can confirm that the person is Tobias's grandfather, Henry.

Carter can translate the old Germanic to mean that it will be protected until it is retrieved in 2032.
